About The Kids Cancer Project
The Kids' Cancer Project funds vital scientific research to develop better treatments for all children with cancer. They engaged Oversite Digital to conduct an Independent Digital Audit of their digital ecosystem to support their in-house marketing team and understand how their agency is performing.
The Kids Cancer Project was looking to understand how they are performing, but did not expect the level of detail.
How the Independent Digital Audit helped The Kids Cancer Project
As a small business focused on meeting strategic goals, it can be difficult to know how their digital ecosystem has been performing. Thanks to the Independent Digital Audit, The Kids Cancer Project now has total understanding of their strengths and opportunities.
“[The Head of Marketing and Communications] Jo and I had the same reaction - it was the most amazing thing we’ve ever seen,” Tannous said.

The experience with the Independent Digital Audit
Digital marketing can be confusing, and so having tools to make the complex simple is key. That’s exactly what The Kids Cancer Project found with the Independent Digital Audit.
“The information is very clear on the dashboard,” Tannous said.
“It was easy to digest for people with the knowledge and background to understand, but also those of us who don’t have that experience.”
“Having the dashboard made it simple for us, while the technical experts used the data exports to dig further into the data.”
For the digital marketing team members, the Audit validated their beliefs. For management, the Audit has equipped them with knowledge and language to understand what is going on with their digital marketing and also their teams.
“We’re now able to confidently speak with the team on action items from the audits, and have a far greater understanding of what is happening with our digital ecosystem,” Tannous said.
“It’s been a great learning for us to understand better what the team is doing day-to-day, and be able to have more fruitful conversations with them on their work.”
Working with Oversite Digital
The process of giving access to all the channels and receiving the audit was “very simple” for The Kids Cancer Project.
“The process was super easy. Oversite has organised everything in a way that means it was a simple, step-by-step process to get set-up, which was really important for us who don’t have a technological background,” Tannous said.
“We felt like we got the audit back so quickly. It isn’t the kind of thing where you organise it and then so much time has passed that you move on. We got all the information so quickly.”
Beyond the process being so simple, Tannous said it has been incredibly helpful having an external party review their digital ecosystem.
“When someone owns a channel, it’s natural that they are a bit more sensitive to sharing something that might not be working,” Tannous said.
“With the audit there’s no hiding of information, or trying to sell a solution on the information. It’s just ‘here’s what the data says’.
“We will absolutely be getting another audit in the future. The value is too great.”
